Eligibility Criteria

Nationality:

  • Must be a citizen of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan.

Educational Background:

  • For Integrated Doctoral or Master’s Program: Must have finished or be on track to finish 16 years of schooling outside of Japan by the day before they start school.
  • For PhD Program: For the PhD program, you must have earned or be on track to earn a degree from a university or college outside of Japan that is equal to a Master’s degree or a professional Master’s degree by the day before you start the program.

Academic Performance:

  • Students should have a minimum GPA of 2.3 on a 3.0 scale.

Age:

  • Must be at least 22 years old by the day before the admission date.

Language Requirement:

  • There is no need to know Japanese to get into the school; all lectures and seminars are held in English. If students want to better fit in with daily life in Japan, they can choose to take regular Japanese language classes.

People who want to apply for the MEXT Scholarship in Japan must be able to speak English or Japanese well and meet at least one of the standards below:

  1. Language Proficiency Tests:
    • English: Must have a valid score from one of the following:
      • TOEFL iBT (including TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition)
      • TOEFL ITP Plus for China Solution (taken in Mainland China)
      • TOEFL Paper-Delivered Test
      • TOEIC L&R
      • IELTS Academic Module
    • Japanese: Must provide proof of proficiency through a recognized test if applicable.

The TITech Tuition Reduction Scholarship pays for all of the tuition.
144,000 JPY a month to cover living costs (amount may change).
